For some time now we have been hearing how unstructured data sources can feed our Big Data platforms, and how they are magically turned into sources for Advanced Analytics that can yield unbelievable business benefits. By now, most organizations have realized that there is no magic wand to turn data into insights, and even if they have powerful big data engines, the process is not so straightforward.

In this white paper we look at a case of image classification for medical images and see how it can be implemented in various Azure services. We go through some of the strategies applied (Transfer Learning, Data Augmentation) and if/how they can be used within each service. We also dig further into operating problems, such as deployment and dataset cleaning using traditional techniques.
